i am a painter. i was a painter before I was a photographer. i approach my images as a painter.  i am painting with light and shadow. i compose my image as I do a painting. i am a bit of a minimalist. i like to subtract until I have the essence of what I am trying to visually say. i love grit, grain, contrast and things in and out of focus. i love following images 'down the rabbit hole' to places I didn't see in my imagination. i trust my instincts and I love to mash things together that you wouldn't normally put together. i love fabric and incorporating my love of history and experience in theatre. this is how I see the world. welcome.
